China Adolescent Science & Technology Innovation Contest (CASTIC) is one of the biggest national science competitions. CASTIC is held in different cities in China every year, aimed at developing adolescents’ innovative capacity and their ability to apply their science knowledge in creating inventions. More than 500 students and near 70 science teachers from 35 delegations within China participate in this contest annually. Foreign delegations from countries including the USA, Germany, Denmark, Hungary, India, Korea and Japan also take part in the contest to share their innovative creations with the world. Every year, our centre selects the most outstanding scientific creations to form the HKSAR delegation and participate in this national event.

The 27th China Adolescents Science and Technology Innovation Contest

With the theme of “Innovation, Experience, Growth”, the 27th China Adolescents Science and Technology Innovation Contest attracted 15 teams comprising 16 students and three teachers from Hong Kong led by the Science Innovation Centre of the Association to participate. The delegation brought home a total of 58 prizes. Among the total, Pun Chun Sang and Tsui Yung Kin Samuel from The Chinese Foundation Secondary School won the first prize for their project “Paper-like Photosynthetic Microbial Paper Fuel Cell”. They were also awarded the Intel Excellence Award and were highly honoured by the contest committee. In addition to participating in contests, participants also have the opportunity to communicate with teachers and students from other countries, territories and provinces and cities of China. Under the arrangement of the contest committee, they also visited Ningxia Science and Technology Museum and Ningxia Museum to broaden their horizon.
