Since its launch in 1997, the “Hong Kong Youth Science and Technology Innovation Competition” (HKYSTIC) is now the largest and most popular STEM competition in Hong Kong with over 4,000 applicants from nearly 350 schools participating in this annual event. The competition targets on kindergarten, primary and secondary school students and teachers, with categories including Science Fiction Drawing, Invention, Research, Science and Technology Practical Activity. Top winners will have the opportunity to be nominated to participate in the largest national science competition in China – China Adolescent Science and Technology Innovation Contest which is hosted by different mainland cities in August annually.

The “Hong Kong Youth Science & Technology Innovation Competition - 2018-2019” (HKYSTIC) is now opened for enrollment. The competition is the largest and most popular STEM competition in Hong Kong. Last year we had almost 4,000 entries from nearly 300 schools participating in this annual event.
This year's competition will be held from 2018 September to 2019 March. The competition consists of 6 categories: Research and Invention, Science Fiction Drawing, Science and Technology Practical Activity, Outstanding Science and Technology Teacher Award, Teaching Aids Invention and Outstanding Science and Technology School. “Research and Invention” category is opened to all secondary and primary school students, they can either enroll as a group project (less than 3 students) or compete individually. “Science Fiction Drawing” welcomes secondary, primary as well as kindergarten students to compete individually. “Science and Technology Practical Activity” targets at science or technology clubs in secondary schools. Teachers can also compete in this event in the “Outstanding Science and Technology Teacher Award” and “Teaching Aids Invention” categories. School principals are also invited to nominate their school in the “Outstanding Science and Technology School” category. “Outstanding Organization Awards” will be presented to schools with the most active participation in the competition.
